Hey so as you might know i study IT at college, so i've become very confident and decided it's time to make a monster... My current system is a Core 2 Duo with a decent DDR2 Gigabyte Motherboard, 4GB of RAM running XP and a low cost Geforce GTX GPU.

Now the upgrade stage, im boosting upto a DDR3 Motherboard with 12GB of DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM. Intel i7 950 Processor and an overclocked Geforce GTX graphics card and running Windows7 Pro. Details are below.

First the new Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 Express (socket 1366)

Processor - Intel CPU Core i7 950 Quad Core Processor - 3.06 GHz, QPI 4.8GT/s, 8MB Cache, 23x Ratio, 130W

Memory (RAM) - Corsair Memory Vengeance 12GB DDR3 1600MHz CAS 9 XMP Triple Channel

Graphics card - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 Super Overclock 815MHz 1GB NVIDIA Graphics Card

That's the 4 main components that are being upgraded, I'll be using my old gaming case, PSU(750W) and 120GB HDD.

I will be selling my old stuff to someone who is in need, or ill just throw them on ebay or something.

I'm looking forward to building this machine for one I like having something that's powerful and does everything how i want it to, and 2 it will help me in RS as currently my PC has been outdated by all the New but old now HD setting etc.. and tbh my PC does lag like shit in some multi P2P wars.

Hopefully this system will be perfect for everything i need :)

Discuss or question anything if you like... :)

Looks good. I'm building a new gaming PC myself in a few days, just waiting for the parts to get delivered. I'm not much of an Intel/Nvidia fan because they're both really expensive and my last build (Intel quad core CPU, Nvidia GPU) overheated somehow.

My new build:

Added 2 fans and different RAM ever since I took the screenshot. Doesn't show the specs on there because the website sucks. CPU is an AMD Phenom II 955 3.2 ghz x4 and the graphics card has 1 GB GDDR5 memory.

? Wrong choice of GPU. As you're from the UK I hope you're ordering from http://scan.co.uk

Buy one of the ATI 6XXX Series, they're cheap and feature some impressive specs. - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-sapphire-radeon-hd-6950-pci-e-21-(x16)-5000mhz-gddr5-gpu-800mhz-1408-cores-dvi-mhdmi

Will cost less then your GeForce card too.

The RAM/Mobo/Processor are fine, although personally I would rather go for ripjaws - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-054-GS.

Also what cooling are you wanting? I wouldn't stick with the stock i7 heatsink. You should buy something like this - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-v6gt-cpu-cooler-for-lga1366-1156-775-amd-am3-am2plus-am2

On top of all of that, what case are you buying? You have high end parts, you'll be needing a nice case. Scan really do do some nice and cheap cases too btw.
