Gym vs Home Workout

A couple years back I took out a summer membership at a local gym. Its the only time I've used one but I don't think I used it enough to get a proper idea of which is better.

 

So I always just workout in my room, the pros of which are:

It doesn't cost me anything with the exception of a pair of dumbbells which are cheap anyway

I don't have to travel anywhere

I don't have to worry about equipment queues at peak times

I can rock out to my ipod like a spastic in between sets without anyone seeing me

 

Cons:

No access to equipment and facilities

No cardio workout available(although I guess you could just go for a run)

Less motivated to actually get going/push yourself

 

So which do you prefer and why?

i feel like gym membership forces you to work out or you look like an idiot infront of people and you push yourself harder. id rather gym lol.

Don't really work out but rather do it at a place like the gym because at home you can get easily distracted plus I don't have machines at my house to use so

To be honest, i would say Gym

you can ask questions and other people who have had longer expierence can help you out?

or you can check out the hot girls on the tredmils (THH)

i loved running, it was my daily exercise

was always in track and field, pretty much prefer to run since i cant do that heavy lifting shit :D

Personally I just exercise at home it's cheaper + I can do it on my own time whenever but I mostly just run a mile or two a day in the mornings to stay in shape so there wouldn't rly be much point in going to a gym for that.

Gym gets me pumped up, but I never go alone, I go with friends to push myself.

Plus with all those mirrors I can check myself out when I'm lookin like a boss.

gym with a friend definitely. its fun pushing each other and seeing other work out motivates you to keep going.

Gym. Being with other people working out as well helps motivate you.

 

At home you tend to get easily discrated.

yea this. working out alone is just hard to do, i have been doing it a lot lately because im really on a health spree lately, but working out with friends or a team is 10x easier and you get more work done cuz ur all pushing each other.
