More cast members for the new â??Mortal Kombatâ?? live-action web series have been confirmed. Find out which actors are playing which iconic characters from the classic video game franchise.

Exactly a week ago we learned the first bit of casting news for the upcoming Mortal Kombat web series based on the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short when Jeri Ryan confirmed her role as Sonya Blade via Twitter. Today, we have confirmation from Warner Bros. that Ryan is indeed on board the project â?? which is now being touted as a â??Live-action digital new media seriesâ? â?? along with some other new casting confirmations that Mortal Kombat fans will (presumably) be happy about.

Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite) will be back to reprise his role as Major Jackson â??Jaxâ? Briggs, while Darren Shahlavi (300, IP Man 2) will play the new version of Kano.

Kevin Tancharoen, who directed the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short is also helming the Web series, which is expected to ultimately lead into a new Mortal Kombat movie (provided the series is a hit, of course). Despite early assumptions, itâ??s not yet been confirmed whether or not Tancharoen or any of the â??digital new media seriesâ? cast members would be attached to the feature film as well; however, if the web series is a hit, I donâ??t see why cast and director wouldnâ??t be given a shot at the silver screen.

Here are some of the more interesting bits of the official press release from Warner Bros.:

Written by Kevin Tancharoen, Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing, and available online this spring from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, the â??Mortal Kombatâ? digital new media series is an anthology of multiple live action shorts. Each episode will provide never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the gameâ??s universeâ?¦Fans will be able to delve deep into the history of the warriors they know and love including â??Sub-Zeroâ? and â??Scorpion.â?

The aforementioned video game is the new Mortal Kombat which will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 19th. For more details on the game, including trailers and images, head over to our sister site Game Rant.

Iâ??m looking forward to Tancharoenâ??s refreshed take on the Mortal Kombat universe, and I already like most of the actors I saw filling the iconic roles presented in Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, so hearing that Ryan and White are back is good news in my book. I donâ??t really know much about Shahlavi, but hopefully this new take on Kano is a good one â?? itâ??d be a shame if they messed up such a great character. (The laser-eye is a must, am I right?)

The Mortal Kombat digital new media series is currently filming in Vancouver and is set to premiere this Spring, likely coinciding with the release of the video game. Weâ??ll keep you posted on any new casting updates.

Edit: If you have no idea what the Mortal Kombat Rebirth is about, I HIGHLY recommend you check out the trailer below. For all you scorpion and sub-zero fans you will be pleased to hear that this web-series will be based around them.

The web-series is a definite yes, but the movie is going to depend on whether or not this web-series is a hit or not. If it turns out to be a huge hit then we should expect a movie in the near future.

Oh I see alright then I misunderstood that bit :P well I doubt I'll play the game since I'm rarely ever interested in anything outside of RS, but I might see the movie if it did come out

Game? This web-series won't be a game. It will be like a tv series, but on the internet. The game is also coming out when the web-series does, but they won't be related.
