Resident Evil:Operation Racoon City

Capcom confirmed to the press today it will ship Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City this Winter. Reports surfaced late last week when details were first revealed through the Official Xbox Magazine. Capcom said Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will also be made available for PC in addition to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Developed by Vancouver-based Slant Six Games, Capcom says this new Resident Evil will take the series in a "completely new direction" and offer a style of gameplay "yet to be seen from the franchise." Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a third-person, squad-based shooter set in 1998 during the events depicted in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

It is September 1998 and the action centers once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella's actions. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

Fans can expect to see the return of original Resident Evil characters and landmarks, such as Leon Kennedy and the Raccoon City Police Department.

Players will experience a retelling of classic moments from past titles Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and watch the events unfolding from the menacing perspective of the Umbrella Security Service, giving fans the chance to rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak.

Capcom said Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will have "a number of competitive online multiplayer modes" and offer a "unique gaming experience" due to the three-way combat between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops, and zombies.

I'll be watching out for this

the slant six games made a couple of Socom games, not sure on how well done they were.

Yeah, I imagine Resi 4 is too recent to get remade anyway. But to me it found the best balance between been a weak average guy trying to hold off some zombies and being a super solider mowing down hordes of them. I think the main difference was having the laser sight on the guns so you could actually aim.

Sounds fucking amazing. Resident Evil 2 was probably one of the best out of the series, with 3 being the worst (Nemesis was the only cool part about that game). With that in mind this game will be well worth the sticker price they put on it.

Surprised anyone even mentioned the movie series, because that series sucks absolute nut.

Well if you aren't a hardcore RE gaming fan I can see where you are coming from, but that movie was a complete fucking disaster from the start.

You ruin a PERFECT story line, amazing plot, and probably throw away Capcom's most memorable characters for a chick who has mind powers (chris, jill, and wesker we're so poorly played out it wouldn't have even mattered if they were in the movie series). Was complete bull shit in my opinion. They could have done much better than a mindless shooting movie based on a chick who has super powers. BS and needs a complete reboot.
