Matt^ Report post Posted July 23, 2011 How does this set up look? Parts I have: Case: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=1520 Heatsink: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4261&CatId=798 Parts I'll be ordering: Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136769 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDet...st=Combo.660714 Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDet...st=Combo.660714 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231443 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150516 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817207013 $724.94 without $50 in mail-in rebates, and $10 promo code. I'm just wondering if this will handle anything I throw at it, and lots of multi-tasking. Along with gaming at high settings. I'd like to cut down on the budget a little bit, to like 650ish. EDIT: I also have a 650W PSU and a 250 GB hard drive, would those work with the new parts or am I better off just upgrading to the new stuff? EDIT2: That set up can OC to like 4GHZ if I need it to, right? Or even higher if I get more fans/better cooling?
 0

With that card and processor, go for a 600+ watt PSU, preferably the same brand you've already chosen. Aside from that, you could possibly in the future purchase an extra 4GB of RAM if the current 4GB doesn't work out for you (g.skill is the best ram imo). All in all, It's perfect aside from the PSU which I'd pump up to at least 600W.
 0

≈Nine Report post Posted July 23, 2011 Seeing as you plan on doing lots of video editting and photoshop, get 8gigs of RAM if you're willing to spend the extra 30 or so bucks - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428&Tpk=F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL As for the graphics card, spend the extra 15$ and get a 6870. Definitely worth it - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102913 As for the power supply, go for a 600W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017 - Not exactly 'known' for their power supplies but the reviews look good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 - Can't go wrong with Corsair. Apart from that, everything looks good.
 0
Flynn Report post Posted July 23, 2011 Gl, personally I prefer to just buy pre-made gaming computers off e-bay. Saving a bit of $ to build it yourself is just a hassle to me. Are you mentally challenged or something? You can put together a PC within an hour.
 0
