Supercoke Report post Posted July 29, 2011 svchost.exe is a normal windows process, in windows 7 there should be several of these(10+) running on your system at any given time. These control stuff such as windows update among other things, to find out what its doing just right click on it in task manager and "go to services" If all of your svchosts are preforming legit services then your fine, you probably just need more ram. If you do this and it can't find any services its preforming then its likely a virus. If this is the case, right click on the svchost that has no services and "open file location" It probably won't let you delete it because it will say its in use so right click on the file go to "properties -> security -> advanced permission settings -> remove all of its permissions" Then I'd probably download ccleaner and clean my registry and restart. Upon restart the svchost that was causing you problems won't have the ability to run or copy itself so you should just be able to delete it. I've had to do this before and it worked, hope it helps

Renshae Report post Posted July 29, 2011 Sounds to me as if somethings binded itself into your Svchost.exe (how many of them are running?). Do some virus scans/reformat your PC. Yeah, I've had some nasty viruses attach to Svchost.exe...
