Recommended Posts

Tyler

I got my old desktop from like 2 years ago and am wanting to use it for runescape since the labtop I have been using lags to much for my liking. The labtop I have is a dell inspirion m1330, what would do I need to buy to be able to use my labtop as a monitor for my old desktop?

Don't know, Splodge (Jamie) is probably the best person to ask something like this.

Pretty sure you can't use a laptop monitor frame for a desktop. I don't think it has the correct plugin.

Wrong, by default all ports are both input and output.

What you need to do this :

A relatively new graphics card which will have 2 DVI or VGA output slots on it. Either this, or you're going to be buying a VGA splitter. Plug all of the connectors in then watch this video :

It's just the same as if you plugged a second monitor in. The only thing is is that I don't believe you can use it (I could be wrong) as a single monitor, i.e the only one plugged into your computer when Windows boots up. If you're on Vista/W7 the steps are more or less the same, just hit screen resolution on the desktop instead of properties.

Also make sure your desktop has better specs then your laptop, it shouldn't be hard as your laptop is like abysmal even compared to the standards 2 years ago lol. They're below if you didn't know them.

Hell Pure

Just buy a monitor, its not worth the hassle.

You can probably get a decent HD monitor for $80-$120 if you look hard enough, just don't buy it from big commercial stores they steal your pennies.
