Ownedu Report post Posted August 20, 2011 To whoever thinks DoTA2 will kill LoL you have to be out of your mind. League of Legends is the World of Warcraft of MoBA. User friendly, fun to play, and FREE. No matter how good DoTA2 is, LoL will always gain players, espiecally with a brand new game mode, new champion every three weeks and daily updates/releases. Don't know what this "Moba" you refer to as.Pretty sure they are all called AoS's, and HoN/SotiS/DotA are all better than LoL anyways.Have fun with your game based on creep farming, also have fun with shitty patches that nerf heroes that don't need to be nerfed while leave the OP ones in the game. Don't get me wrong.I love playing League of Legends with friends and stuff, but it's not meant to be taken serious at all.The only people that will stay are people that don't play AoS's seriously. (aka the retards who bitch about getting ganked and say they wanted to 1v1, stuff like that that really makes the community shit). I.a. Definition What is a MOBA? Well, MOBA stands for Massive Online Battle Arena. When you think of this, you make think of things like Call of Duty, or Halo, where you fight in an arena. That would be the wrong assumption. An example of a MOBA is Defense of the Ancients (DotA). LoL has a 5.5$ million dollar prize pool for the next season, and plenty of people take it seriously, maybe you haven't gotten to experience much since your not level 30/into competitive play, but yeah DoTA 2 might kill HoN seeing as HoN has lost thousands of players to LoL and the game was forced to go F2P. No one uses the term MOBA besides Riot. And I'm not level 30 in LoL because I actually play other games such as the original DotA, However I have paid attention to the competitive scene so I know what i'm talking about.DotA is far more competitive than League of Legends is so I don't know what point you're trying to make. Face it, you can't even creep block,deny,or any of the things that makes DotA more skillful.Instead you just farm the shit out of the creeps. and about the prize pool thing. >5 million divided over an entire season, national international and championship. >1 million for one tournament for a game that isn't released yet. I think that says enough. edit: Like I said though, League of Legends is still a decent game, I idle in #leagueoflegends and play with friends quite often but honestly... game doesn't have shit on the original DotA Allstars and DotA 2 when it comes out. Lol No, that is a complete fallacy and misconception by League of Legends players.Guinsoo is the only developer of DotA that Riot has.Guinsoo didn't even create DotA, a guy by the name of Eul did (back in Reign of chaos expansion).Guinsoo only developed/updated it on The Frozen Throne. and like Merlini said in the other thread, Guinso was seen as a shitty developer.His DotA was imbalanced and his updates were far between.He later got addicted to WoW and left DotA and let Icefrog take charge.Icefrog (who is the now the working on DotA 2 for Valve) has been updating DotA, and still updates it to this day.He's seen as a far more superior developer than Guinsoo.
