FORMER TIME OUT CTO AND ELECTRONIC ARTS VETERAN JOINS JAGEX IN A NEWLY CREATED ROLE

For Immediate Release – Jagex, the UK’s largest independent games developer and publisher, today announced the appointment of Remo Gettini as Vice President of Technology. Gettini, who has over 15 years experience in the technology industry, will work alongside Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard to realise the potential of Jagex’s platform and to support Jagex’s current and future titles.

 

Speaking of his new post, Gettini said; “The entire games industry is at a turning point, on the precipice of substantial change and extremely promising growth for those that make the smart moves to the right platforms. By joining Jagex I am looking forward to helping the team shape the future of the studio for the years ahead alongside sharing their industry leading online technology and platform with other game developers. This is a tremendously exciting opportunity and I cannot wait to get started.”

 

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Gerhard, Jagex CEO & CTO said; “Remo is a fantastic guy who has a huge amount of experience in creating next generation technologies as well as scaling highly talented engineering teams. Remo is perfectly positioned to take our incredible technical talent and wider online platform strategy forward. ”

 

Prior to working at Jagex, Gettini served at CTO of Time Out where he was responsible for their entire global infrastructure, platform development and product roadmap. He has also worked for EA as their Head of EMEA, EA Interactive Central, where he helped to build their interactive platform and specifically the technology for numerous successful games such as FIFA07, FIFA Street, FIFA World Cup 2006, Need for Speed U2, Need for Speed Most Wanted and The Sims.

 

As Vice President of Technology, Gettini will oversee the planning and implementation of all of Jagex’s technical projects.

 

 

I guess they can see RS is becoming a dead game. I wonder what the new guy is gonna do.
