Babysean Report post Posted February 22, 2013 2007 Servers and their flaws- Well to start off I personally would have been much happier if my 2007 account got reinstated rather than having to start over again, but overall I can't complain about jagex actually deciding to do something productive for once. It's going to be strange at first, we're all used to either A) coming over from classic and transfering items or B) coming into a thriving economy and having all the raw materials we need to do whatever we want ASAP. As for the servers themselves I can only hope that Jagex actually cares about them and that we don't have dicing and all that other bs that was irrelevant in 2007. My main concerns are that we will run into issues concerning the amount of time that it takes to achieve things on the server. Many of the players that are excited to come back to the game don't realize that there will be no raw materials in the game and that it is going to take months upon months for the economy to start and settle. I'm sure these servers are going to bring back the nostalgia that I've been looking for but I'm confident that jagex will actually take care of them properly. With something so sensitive like this they will need to be on top of the game 24/7 making sure that everything runs smoothly or it could go down hill quickly. With all of this said I'm pretty excited to see how this will go for the first couple months, it's going to be nice to skill and actually have 99's and goals mean something in rs again. I'm not excited to do quests again though... How long do you think it will take to get the economy rolling and settled? Do you think jagex will actually monitor the game and care for it just as they did back in 2003-early 2007. What do you think the worst thing about starting over again is? Daniela Report post Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Since I was maxed in 07 I would've preferred to have my old acc back but as a company who has always tried to cater new members over long term members I understand their reasoning behind letting everyone start off fresh. I think the main problem will be getting the economy started, hopefully enough skillers will transfer over to provide rune and everything else. Then again everyone who levelled up to 85 mining in the old xp system knows how long it takes so I think it's fair to say the success of these servers really depends on the patience of both pvp players who have to skill up all combat skills and the dedication of skillers who provide items. Will have to wait and see how it all pans out e: to answer your questions, I'm estimating about 6 months for things to actually get rolling, including ppl getting used to trading person to person again and everything. I don't think it'll be any time soon that the economy is back on its feet the way it was (if it ever gets to it again) at the point where sets are easily affordable, that's a long way down the road. I doubt Jagex will monitor the way they did but I'm sure if there are major problems (in their eyes) they will interfer. For me the worst part is to see how excited everyone is now but also knowing how long it will take until we finally get what we want which is actual fights and I hope people won't give up too quickly. Sp3ed Report post Posted February 22, 2013 It's going to be a while before any real form of power training comes into play. Something simple like a super set, or prayer potions will be really expensive for the first while. Hopefully by summer the economy will be decent.
 0
