Thoughts on MMK/OSRS?

They should just add random questions to the poll, see how the noobs feel

They are a large international media corporation with a rapidly declining asset. Why would they make any of their services free at this stage of the game's life?

As much as I love putting down Jagex and their employees, Mod Mat K had all valid points. And of course they like profit, they are a business, not a charity.

They shouldn't get greedy or else they'll kill their own game

OSRS won't grow, like most people have said, it's only a few dedicated players that still play it, it won't attract new players since point and click MMOS are outdated.
It'll eventually die, pointless playing it.
They should just let people bot, unban me, then let the game die.

Well they need to make money somehow, they're a business. What do you expect them to do?

I don't understand why scamming and hijacking necessarily increase, other things equal, with a decrease in the cost of playing the game. I think that any influx of new players, whether paying $8/month or nothing at all, will be accompanied by more scamming and hijacking. This eventually will decrease as these players adjust to the game and slowly gain more collective common sense (the knowledge that, e.g., if you see someone saying "trimming armor," it's probably a scam). Growing the OSRS playerbase is essential to the game's longevity, and Jagex shouldn't be put off by the chance of increased scamming and hijacking. For each new OSRS player who's scammed and quits, there will be several who stay and contribute positively to the game.

Macroing is a completely different issue and needs to be solved not by a paywall, but by Jagex's software developers, who have mostly put an end to the problem on RS3.
