With the summer quickly approaching we wanted to go into some detail about what updates you can expect to see in Old School Runescape. Earlier this month we held a survey where you could tell us what updates were important to you. We have been planning ever since so we can offer you what you want. Below we have given you dates of when we expect things to happen, but please be aware that although we will do everything we can to deliver on these dates, they are subject to change.

What was most important to you as a community was bank tabs. These have already been polled and we hope to be able to deliver them to you in the next couple of weeks.

Clan Wars is something that you have been asking about for a long time. In content poll #19 starting on the 7th of May we will be polling this to the community. We have been working hard to make sure the design of Clan Wars doesn’t negatively impact on the activity in the Wilderness as well as adding some more game modes like King of the Hill, we will go into all the details you need in a developer blog prior to the poll. We expect to be able to launch Clan Wars in mid-June which will be just in time for the next Old School Clan Cup.

At the same time as we poll Clan Wars, we will also be polling a clue scroll expansion which will offer new clues, puzzles and rewards. While this is being developed we will be giving you the opportunity to submit puzzles for the new clue scrolls and we will include the best ones in game.

Next week we are going to start talking to you about the trade solution. We will be launching a survey to find out what is important to you in a trading solution and why you want it. Once we have this information we can start designing the solution for you in time to be polled in content poll #20 (starting on the 28th May). Of course, how long this takes to develop will depend on the final design.

On the 9th May we will be launching a new Player Designed Content competition targeted at creating a new skill for Old School. We’ll specifically be looking at brand new skills so you’ll need to be original. As with the past PDC competitions, we will present you with a shortlist of ideas and you can vote for your favourite. We will then create a design document for your favourite idea and we will poll that. You can expect to be voting on the new skill in content poll #21 which starts on the 18th June.

If that wasn’t enough this summer, in content poll #22 launching on the 9th July, we will be polling a new uber quest which will take you on a journey through a brand new continent which will increase the land mass on Old School by 50%. This will reinvigorate the exploration and discovery aspects of Old School that you enjoyed when your Runescape adventures first began.

Content poll #23 (30th July) will see you have the opportunity to vote on whether Bounty Hunter should be added to Old School. We are keen to ensure that this minigame enhances PvP activity in all PvP areas so we’ll be starting a conversation with you about just what you want Bounty Hunter to be at the start of July.

Finally for the summer, content poll #24 will contain achievement diaries. You should be voting in this poll on the 20th August.

The content that arises from these votes will take various amounts of time to deliver and will depend on discussions that we are still to have with you. We will be much better placed to give you the ETA for delivery of this content once the relevant poll has concluded.

Of course, it is not just content we are giving you this summer. We have already mentioned the Old School Clan Cup and you will also see the return of Snagwort as he tries to takeover Gielinor with his goblin hordes once more. The druids of Taverley will be celebrating the summer solstice where you will have an opportunity to collect some half jugs of wine and discs of returning.

Finally, we will be launching a new initiative in June, the Player Council. You will have the opportunity to vote for players to fill council positions who will become responsible for representing the community in the area they have been elected to. We see this as a great step forward in building even stronger relationships with the community and giving you an even stronger voice.

As with everything we do, there will be individual developer blogs on each of the polls, updates and community activities so you know all the details of what is happening. Make sure you are regularly looking at the main page so you don’t miss out on anything. Along with all the big updates we continue to offer the small quality of life updates with each poll.

As with everything Old School, you are in control. If the community decides it has another priority that needs addressing, we will happily alter any plans we have to deliver what you want. If pink ponies and an elephant impression emote suddenly become the most important thing ever, we'll do that instead.

This should be one fantastic summer for all Old School players.

mod ash (the other developer) coded the original cwa singlehandedly, then did the revamp for it, and is also going to be doing it here. the pures jizz themselves over cwa, and the idea of safe pvp is something every person outside of clans want. the larger part of the community wanted it
