How to Leak Clans, A Guide

Earlier today, a team brought up by us bit our hand by leaking our forums despite only a few of the pictures being from this year. However it didn't take long to realize that not only were these pictures old, they were irrelevant and not even cringeworthy (If anything I thought they actually highlighted our strict and proud clan culture). On top of that, AF forums are inactive and nobody would really end up seeing the leaks. We have nothing embarrassing to hide (unlike everyone else) so we gave them a hand and posted the leak on our forums:





Because of these circumstances, a leak hyped up for almost two days fell flat with only 600 views in a couple hours. I expected the first leak of our forums in almost half a decade would be worth reading and well written. It wasn't. So there is obviously an experience gap here.

But fear no more, because I want to help. I want the next time a clan has their forums leaked to be done right. All pictures on this topic are from the last two weeks (See: Step Three) and will help explain my methodology.

Step One: Organize your pictures. By theme, then chronologically.

The pictures AF posted were lacking any chronological ordering which made it very confusing to read. Not only that, the nature of the posts were varied and at times not even really a leak (Kick and inactivity topics were included in their leak).

As so, this topic was posted by a VR member named Legendary012 a few days ago and had a few worthy replies. So first I organized all the relevant pictures to this topic and then ordered them chronologically. That way it will flow a lot better and accentuate what you are trying to expose.

 

Step Two: Make sure what you're posting is cringeworthy and worthy of being exposed.

Like I said before, including punishment and inactivity topics are not conducive to a good leak. You need to think as if you were one of your members: What would you want to see? There wont always be bombshell topics but you can always search in the replies of large topics for certain gems.

Back on the topic of cringeworthy, a few days ago I came across this topic. This is a perfect example of what people want to see (Once again, organized and then ordered):













Step Three: Use recent pictures!

Nothing is more embarrassing than digging through the archives for old pictures. Nobody will remember what they did that day much less what happened on Runescape. AF posted 30 pictures, of that, over 20 of them were not from 2015. That's a big no-no. If anything, it highlights how poor ones insight is when the only thing they've got to show for their efforts is old news. Sometimes you need to block out the dates sure, but when there are mentions of clans that are no longer open and members who quit over 2 years ago it's a knock to your credibility.

This topic was posted only a few days ago on VR private forums. It's a perfect example of taking something fresh in peoples minds and showing them an interesting perspective.

Step Four: Make sure people are actually gonna read it.
