Counter Strike 1.6 FAQ / Help Topic

For everyone thats new to Counter Strike heres some info/help.

Voting For A Map

First, hit the button next to the 1 key / above tab. This button is `. This opens the console, which is basically a command prompt for the game. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS PRESSING "Y" AND TYPING AND TYPING IN-GAME.

Now, type the word "votemap".

This will bring up a list of maps. Each map has a number to correspond with it. At the bottom of the list, it will say how many votes is required for a map to be selected.

Next, type "votemap (number)" and hit enter. The number should be the corresponding number of the map you want to vote for.

If you type "votemap" again in console, it should show the list of maps, and the map you voted for will have a "1" on the side of the name.

Making Your Own Custom "Spray"

In the game, you can press "t" near a wall or on something and it will spray paint an image.

Too change the image, or see the one you are going to spray, go to options and look under the first tab, which is labeled "multi player". Select a spray of your choice if you like any of the defaults.

Now, a lot of people have their own spray that they either made of had made for them. For example, Zach494's or Lifeline has his own spray. Its an image of a heartbeat monitor and it says "lifeline" or something.

To make a spray, you first need a program to make it. I would recommend Decal Converter Here or something like that.

You basically make an image, then crop it, then convert it to the right format, and place it in your folder.

Open Decal Converter up, specify your directory, which is the cstrike folder in the steam folder under counter - strike, and then open an image.

Sometimes that doesn't work, but basically just make it. Hit decal on the top of the program, then hit make decal. Where ever you specified it there should be a pldecal.wad file. Basically this needs to go in the cstrike folder, but not until you delete the tempdecal.wad file.

This is really confusing for some people, so search google, there are more in depth guides.

As for transparent sprays, thats another story for another day.

Binding something in the console

Go to console and type "bind (key you're using) (command or action)"

For hookmod, which is basically a spiderman thing that allows you to use a grapple

for repelling or shit like that.

To bind a key for hookmod, you do this: (I am using "j" as my command button)

Go to the console, type "bind j hook" and press enter.

Now, if you want to use the hook, just press "j" in-game.

This works for all ingame action commands, like using an "ultimate" in a Warcraft 3

server. Just remember to not bind a command to a key that you regularly use, like

crouch, jump, or walking because it won't do that action.

Will add more as needed or asked.
