I try to take as much as i can everytime cause i'm not trying to get big(atleast near it), i'm just training strength and taking 5X5(Sets,Reps) with high weight is exacly the way to do it. If your not trying to get big than you should go down a couple notches in the weight section. You will see better results because you will be able to do more reps and work out your muscles longer. That doesn't make a whole load of sense. you should rep with 90% of what you max (216 in his case) What lol??? First of all if you do that you will only be able to do a couple of reps (If you do more than a couple than your max is wrong, you shouldn't be able to do as many reps as you say you are if its that close to your max bench). Curious to where your getting your information from.

If you're trying to get big you take less weight and more reps that way you'll get bigger if you eat right(not crap and shit) if you take high weight and less reps you train pure strength and you'll not get much bigger but stronger. Edit: Not talking about just benching now tho ;p but it goes for that too. Edited December 17, 2010 by In Flames
