Splodge Report post Posted April 10, 2011 I do indeed. When you have a PC like mine you won't like the electricity bill.
Villiska Report post Posted April 10, 2011 I shut down my computer maybe once a week, unless I have updates or I download something. It wears out your hard drive over time. That's why offices and schools don't do shut downs everyday, they do them once a week. Shutting down every night is unnecessary.
Jake2 Report post Posted April 10, 2011 l0l You guys must be sick leaving your computers on all day. I did this when i was 14, now I know better. There's absolutely no point in leaving a computer on when you're sleeping, at school or at work. Just imagine a chip missing a process and sets on fire, bye bye house + computer. It eats electricity (not much, but if you leave it on for no reason, its waste of money). If you don't shut down your computer because it starts up slow (lets say more than 5minutes) then obviously you're doing something wrong, if you have a recent (2-3years old) computer. Use soluto if your computer starts up slow, it's a program that shows you all the programs that start up when you start up your computer. Some are totally unnecessairly. Removing these from the start up list makes your computer start up a lot quicker. Other than that, just a clean, regularly test for virusses, ad aware, programs that you don't use anymore, will keep your computer fast. Remove all you don't use anymore. If, for some reason your computer still starts up slow, just turn it on, and go eat something or take a piss, then come back and it'll be ready for use. Starting up your computer and closing it a lot of times, does not affect your system at all. Leaving it on on the other hand.. Yea dude Jake and Ethan obviously post there uptime to boost there egos because there dicks are small :russianroulette: I switch mine off though, pointless leaving it running when I'm not going to be on it.. I can wait the extra 30seconds for my PC to boot up.. I don't know how my uptime would boost my ego. Besides, I don't really care about being noticed, you should know that by now lol.
