Jagex officially bringing back 07 server if enough votes

They're pretty much doing the whole "vote for wildy back" thing again. They said they have a snapshot of August 2007 but you will have to create a new account or log into your old one and start from scratch.

 

The amount of votes will be determine what they will do with the servers, here is a list of them:

 

Level 1 - 50,000 or more votes:

2007 servers will come back as a separate entity to the current Runescape game, with an additional membership fee of around $15. These servers will receive no content updates and only critical maintenance.

 

Level 2 - 250,000 or more votes:

2007 servers will come back as a separate entity to the main Runescape game, supported by a small development team, with a smaller additional membership fee of around $5 extra. These servers will receive basic maintenance for bug fixes and little improvements, with the possibility of integrating our modern anti-bot technology over time, if it becomes necessary.

 

Level 3 - 500,000 or more votes:

2007 servers will come back as a separate entity to the main RuneScape game, with a dedicated development team, with no extra membership fee. These servers will receive regular maintenance, some content updates and integration of anti-bot technology if necessary.

 

Level 4 - 750,000 or more votes:

2007 Servers will come back as a separate entity to the main RuneScape game, with a larger dedicated development team with no extra membership fee and the free portion of the game available to all. These servers will receive continuous maintenance, modern anti-bot technology if necessary and - crucially - regular members' polls to determine which updates you want to see prioritised.

 

 

If I'm understanding this right, they will charge you $20/month for membership (if they get 250,000+ votes) which is the biggest downfall I think. I won't be playing since the game just grew old for me and I'm just over it but yeah just posting this to whoever is interested.

 

Current members of Runescape will be eligible to vote starting February 15th

I really don't think anyone has time anymore to train up an account again.

It's too bad this never happened sooner - it would have been really fun to play the entire game again with like 100 RoT members to do it with.

I would've approved of this 2-3 years ago but now they can go fuck themselves

ill play again when i have the time, and would love for other rot guys to play too but yeah its hard to train your account up from scratch again.

I still got p2p so I'll vote yes but I'm not starting from scratch. idk why they would even do it like that, I've skimmed through the topic on rs forums and couldn't find a statement where they said they don't have the back up of accounts saved from that time. How was it possible to do roll backs back in the day if they don't copy the account info? some computer geek explain this to me plis

I'm pretty sure they have a backup of the accounts but they just don't want to bring it back. I don't really see reasons as to why not allow the old accounts but I'm assuming it's just for the market (maybe) and they want to make more money.
