What do you use to protect your computer?

Haven't had a anti-virus for years, I can think for myself I don't need a program to think for me.

Antivirus's aren't all that useful because when you download a really malicious program, chances are it is crypted so it's undetectable by most all Antivirus's. My suggestion would be to use a light-weight antivirus that doesn't hog any RAM/CPU and use Malwarebytes as a Scanner. And of course, CCleaner can come in handy.
